Safeco is hands down, the worst insurance company to deal with. They insured an older guy who backed into me at a stop sign.

Nothing I could do, he started to go and all of a sudden, put in reverse and slammed into me. Now he allegedly isn't answering the phone or returning calls to his adjuster so safeco says they won't pay until they talk to him. Even though there was a police report taken at the scene.

I asked what the timeline was and they said no timeline, that if it takes 10 years to contact him, then they won't even consider paying out for 10 years. Total *** company.

Works exactly the same way with every insurance company. This is standard practice.

Your insurance company is contracted with you to defend you. Their insurance company is contracted with them to defend them.

A police report is just a piece of the puzzle. It's just a report.

Was the police officer a witness? If not, it's your word against the other party with a drawing of the scene.

You always have the option to turn in the claim to your own insurance.

If you don't have adequate coverage you can take the other person to small claims court.

Your company would not pay a claim for someone else without talking to you.
