I received a cancellation notice for nonpayment on my renters insurance because my credit card had expired.I called to ask them to waive the late fee and that I would pay the balance to have the automatic payment set up with a new credit card.

They said because it wasn't a Safeco error and that I should have known and called in advance, they cannot waive the late fee.

Now who knows off the top of their head when their credit cards expire?I told them to just let the policy cancel and that I'll get coverage elsewhere, which I did

Monetary Loss: $250.

Guess you don't check your mail because I am sure you got a letter or you don't check the exp dste in the card either when you use it. It is called being responsible! :grin
