I received a cancellation notice for nonpayment on my renters insurance because my credit card had expired. I called to ask them to waive the late fee and that I would pay the balance to have the automatic payment set up with a new credit card.
They said because it wasn't a Safeco error and that I should have known and called in advance, they cannot waive the late fee.
Now who knows off the top of their head when their credit cards expire? I told them to just let the policy cancel and that I'll get coverage elsewhere, which I did
